Tuesday Afternoon

Dear Patty,

Howdy, how's tricks. Did you have a big week-end and decide to go to the dance after all.

Last Thurs. we had club at Mae's and she said Carolyn was working very hard to get into one of the clubs cutting grass, scrubbing floors, doing laundry etc. she must want to join very bad. They go up to the bungalow every week-end, I believe, it's on a lake. I guess Phil wouldn't be interesting in joining anything like that. They're going up to parents day this week-end.

Friday night Dad and I went to the movies, we can't waste the passes you know. We saw Beau Brummel. [sic] Daddy enjoyed it. They now have a wide screen at the Capitol and you have to sit way up in the balcony, or it hurts your eyes.

We had Club at our house Sat. night and had quite a political discussion. Peg started out with I read an article in the Gazette and then politely went to sleep while the discussion followed. They wanted to stop playing bridge so they could get home early and then stayed one hour arguing. Paul would egg Charlie on. Al & I played double solitaire.

I went to SS [Sunday School] & Church Sunday and dad stayed at home as usual. We were invited out to Jane's for Sunday dinner. It was a grand day not too cool. We then took a ride out to Mt. Pisgah. Bobby and a friend had a television set set up there with a generator trying to get different stations. There were a lot of people there eating their lunches. We then went over to Jane's mothers to see their new home. It's very nice. Then home to watch television. Do you ever get a chance to see television?

Monday night we washed.

We sent another package off today. Hurrah for the Girl Scouts. 2 boxes. Also some homemade fudge that I made for the County Fair and then didn't get there Saturday. So you got it less a few pieces the club had Sat. night. The butt peanut butter isn't too bad. Grandma also insisted in sending some dry beef and some more hard candy. We keep telling her you can get it up there. It costs more to send it than you can buy it for. How did you like your candy store. I thought maybe you'd sell the pieces to the girls at 1¢ ea. or so. You should have enough hard candy for the whole winter. I believe you must have mentioned to Grandma that you liked hard candy at one time.

Nothing exciting has happened around here and everyone'[s] okay.

Have you succeeded in getting any more #1 in Physics and how about the other subjects?

See you soon,

Love
Mother

Take care of yourself. Is there any snow up there as yet? I'm still not wearing stockings, so you know it hasn't gotten too cold here as yet.
