A Letter Written on Oct 26, 1954

Tuesday

Dear Pat,

I am enclosing check for $20 [no longer with the letter] on Mother's account representing part of your money you left with her. You still have a balance of $70 with her.

I don't understand why your Thanksgiving vacation starts at 4. I have in front of me the Revised Vacation and Academic Registration Dates, 1954-1955, issued by the Office of Registrar. It says, "Thanksgiving Recess -- Wednesday, November 24, 12 noon to Monday, November 29, 8:10 a.m."

It also states, "Students and their parents are expected to familiarize themselves with these regulations and with the dates of vacations, published in the Catalogue, and are asked not to request exceptions."

Perhaps the Official who announced the 4 P.M. departure time should familiarize himself with these regulations. You should ask him "not to request exceptions."

In any event, I don't think you should try to attend the theatre in New York on that Wednesday night. You have no idea how undependable travel schedules can be over holidays. Since you have to make connections at several points along the way, you couldn't count on arriving in NY in time for the First Act curtain.

Better take Mother's suggestion of using the first day of your Christmas vacation for NY shopping and theatre.

I mailed another package this morning. Perhaps you have already received it.

How about answering some of our letters, huh?

I am also enclosing a clipping from the York Disgrace. Bet Minnie turned Green when she read that YCHS and YJC both landed a first and the Tatler settled for second.

Got to hurry and mail this so you get it in time for payday, whatever that is.

Love,
Dad
