Thurs. Afternoon
Dear Pat:
Hi Honey, how's the exams going, two's past anyhoo. Let us know how you make out.
It was so nice to have such a nice long letter from you and Grandma sure appreciated hers too. You can't stay mad at Whiz very long can you, I guess things are all patched up by this time, did you get your mark changed. That's the thing that hurts, it was sort of a double cross wasn't it.
I hope by this time you have received your two packages, let me know if you didn't, they were insured. To fill up some space in the carton I put in some christmas cookes. [sic] I think they are still fresh. You'll eat them up faster than we will. I have everything sent now except your one brown sweater, grandmas [sic] forgot she had it in the cellar. Also I didn't send your records, which dad said we were to bring up when we come up sometime, is that right, also your gadget from Dot. I don't think you'll need that there will you, it [is] so long it's pretty hard to put in anything, I don't know if it will fit in your laundry case or not, do you want it?
If they give any more polio shots you better take them. Maybe you better inquire if you can still get them, even though they gave the first shot. I think it's a good idea to have them, your dad and I are even thinking of taking them. Just don't get one, you must follow thru with the three. By the way, how's your knee, watch it, if it doesn't heal
andgo to sick bay. right away.By the way did you even inquire about a class ring, Are you going to get one. What else do you want besides a record for your birthday. Grandma sent you money in her last letter for your college record. I hope you get the letter, she shouldn't send cash that way. She's finally going to get her pension, almost $900. She's going to blow herself to a new television set, and she's considering color, so there was the $900. David's are finally working her in to do clerking, sneaking it in when she's not looking. It's giving her experience though, as she's having a hard time getting a job because of her age. If she could only get in some place, they would see that she could do the job, but the trouble is in getting them to hire her because of her age.
I guess you're getting all ready to come into N.Y. I hope it's nice weather and be sure to bring along some kind of rubbers or boots as it gets very sloppy and you'd catch cold and ruin shoes if it snows. DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE BOOTS. Will you have enough cash, don't wait until the last minute to ask for it. Be sure to let us know where you're staying and you might call us sometime, also let us know how long you're going to be there.
How's the complexion salve doing, are you using it, if you are don't you need more? I have been thinking of getting some for myself if it works as my complexion is broken out now, I guess as a result of my cold last week. It was sure cold here 9 below, not as cold as there but mighty cold. My new coat sure comes in handy, it's nice and warm.
We have been doing the same things week in and week out. I won at club last Saturday night and last night, I hope the good luck holds out. Tonight Dad and I are going up to Eleanor's and Dick and Eleanor and I are going to work on copper. I hope we make out better than the last time, I'll let you know. Linda liked her baby plate I did for her and the girls liked the spice jar and earrings I gave as prizes for class meeting. We held class meeting at Clara's the other night and the lights were out, so had candle light, very effective, should have been a hallowe'en party inside of a baby shower. The winds had blown a transformer out in town.
Everyone is okay here and I hope you are the same. Take care of yourself anddress [sic] for the cold. And don't forget to take boots along to N.Y. and wear them if needed.
Again good luck in your exams. Don't try to cram too much. I agree with Dad I don't think you should change your course, as with the present one you're qualified to teach both Art and Drama, where with the other one, it would be just Drama. Be different don't always follow in the path of your friends, it's not always the right path.
Again lots of luck, love
Mother
