A Letter Written on May 28, 1956

May 28, 1956

Dear Pat:

I'm sorry but there will be no more cats for this season. I didn't know you wanted me to make you more at this time, you should have mentioned it before. It's way too late when I received your last letter. You can give them to the kids next year and the ones not coming back I wouldn't care about them, or you can send them one this summer. I'm sorry and you'll have to give them my apologies.

Bob Rhoades is in the hospital again with that lung condition. He lifted something heavy again and another cell bursted in the lung.

Bring your fencing hear [sic] along home this summer. Peg wants you to teach Ellen, herself and her mother fencing. Peg and Ellen might be alright but I don't know about her mother.

I've finally finished cleaning downstairs and have only the flamingo room to go and the bath room. I hope I can finish before you come home. It was rainy and damp again yesterday, when I planned to work out, so everything is a mess outside, all weedy.

I guess by the time this reaches you you will have finished your exams, goody goody. I guess you're busy packing up and moving upstairs, too bad you have to make two moves.

We have two new employees in the office, what a mess.

Everyone is okay here, hope you are the same. See you Saturday.

Love,
Mother
