Your kind Valentine Greetings for the children just proofed your amiable remembering us, and you must be sure that the children were most interested, the little one at once came and asked me to help her, she wanted to answer at once - and so do I! Mrs. Petersen tells me that you intend to go to Europe again - and I certainly hope to see you again then - Jörgen-Hendrik, my boy, speaks about you with enthusiasme [sic] - and Louisa, my greatest daughter hopes, that she shall be well, so that she can enjoy your company too - may bee [sic] it will interest you to know that she is very busy and glad for learning English -
Miss Hazel send me a letter for X-mas and she told me that she had seen you and heard a little about everyone of us - she hopes to go to Denmark and I really hope she will like Mrs. Petersen and all the family Petersen - surely she will be glad to see Jean Elisabeth - and you hardly can suppose how dear and charming the little one is - she has develloped [sic] so well I think - of course she is always busy and in extase [sic] - she is lovely! She comes rather often and I am glad to see them almost weekly - Jean Elisabeth has dancing lessons and Mrs. P. and Anne Marie have an hour or more so they can take tea with us - and the little one is so proud because I have told her, that she is wellcome to me allways - [sic]
I think you have a busy time now preparing all your girls for the examination - how old are your pupils? Louisa, my eldest, is going to leave school this summer - here in Holbæk the girls can't prepare for the university, and as she likes house work, I think she has better learn this well, she wants to be a clever house keeper - for instance economist or menager [sic] in a hospital - it is such a long, long time since I have written an english letter, do excuse my faults, some exercise may help, but I am sure that you will kindly receive my letter as any friend and not as a severe teacher - I help Louisa preparing her lessons, and surely it is a help to me - !
May be I shall see you again this summer - or some other time.
If you have some time left I shall be glad to hear from you - and do tell me about your work at school - I am interested in american schools, may be my children should come over there some day, as grown up.
Mrs. Petersen just told me that your birthday is near - I will profit from this occasion in wishing you a happy day and many happy returns of it and at good year for you!
