Tues. March 2, 1965 7PM
Dear Sioux Sue and Larry,
My lonely ride back from Mount Holyoke Sunday night wasn't lonely at all because I listened to a Montreal station for 1 1/2 hours. I enjoyed the French songs and even a speech in French as I tried to catch words I knew. I got home in 2 hours (11:30). For Larry's benefit - I drove Sioux Sue and Betsy back, leaving at 6 P.M. Sunday. Mom stayed home to do school work.
We both stayed home Mon night, Mom did some work, I read. We went to bed early, watched TV. Tonight I have a JCC Board meeting at the Center. I want to get home by 10 to watch Telephone Hour - Robt Goulet, Edye Gormie.
The weather has been like Spring, but with a little chill. I'd just as soon have Spring come real early, so the E course would open early.
We have to know this week whether Larry is to get a $30 membership to play golf at the club. We got a letter today which requests the information. Sioux Sue will get the same membership as previously (no charge, but can play golf with a parent). Larry can get the same but he would not be able to play alone. It would cost $30. The point is - - if Larry gets a job, would he want this extra membership. So what do you think, Lar? Shall we get the same type as previously?
There was a big story in the NY Times today about Ben Kahn buying the best mink at the fur auction. We have 2 papers and we are sending one story to each. Lar, when you finish with yours, return it as I want to give it to Uncle Ray. Or maybe Sioux Sue will send hers back for him.
Wed. night will be Kiwanis and bowling. I'll also have a Kiwanis Board meeting and it may take longer than usual because Lt Gov Sam Coppola will be there. I may miss the first bowling game.
I am almost ready to send out the Eisenberg Family letter announcing the reunion June 26. I'm waiting for a couple of addresses, since I want to send a complete list of names and addresses to everyone. It should be ready by the end of this week, if Helen Eisenberg sends me her children's addresses.
Nothing new on the VA situation.
Sioux Sue - we are thinking of getting tickets for the road show "Oliver" for March 29. Larry will have returned to school, but you will still be here. Do you want us to get ticket
sfor you?Lar - Niskayuna has to play TROY Hi in the first playoff game. That will end the season for NHS.
The Buick hasn't been starting quickly since yesterday. Tonight we left it over at the station and Mom just called to see if it was ready. It needed new points and spark plugs and won't be ready for another hour. That's the first change in those parts in 16000 miles. Guess it needed it.
That's all for now.
The Lobels are going to Rochester this week-end.
We bought Girl Scout cookies from 3 different girls today. It's the season. They are all over the place.
Love,
Dad [Arnold J. Friedman]I'm sending part of the work sheet as the carbon got welled up in typing.
