February 5, 1934Dear Bob,
I was awfully glad to get your letter. I was beginning to think that you had forgotten all about me. I suppose you feel the same way now. I know I've been unexcusably [sic] long in answering yours, but what with exams and all I haven't had a bit of time. I had to spend all of this week-end recovering from my hard labors.
Like you, I had an exam on the last day (and also two the day before.) However I packed up after my second exam (Friday January 26) and went home. I stayed until last Tuesday - a nice long week-end. Bill and Jean were both home at the same time, but Bill had to go back on Sunday. Like the religious girl that I am, I went to church Sunday morning but I didn't stay to S.S. I intended to go to League but Dr and Mrs. Barrett invited the whole family in there for supper so I didn't make it. I was quite disappointed because I didn't get a chance to see anyone - you know, Ruth W. and all.
It was quite a profitable weekend for me, since besides having a good time I got some new clothes - a tan sweater & red skii [sic] pants (can't you picture me in them? Well you won't see them so it's alright.) Best of all, however, was a new winter coat - eel gray with a huge fur collar. I was awfully surprised when the family suggested it because I didn't expect one until next year.
Did you have a grand time in New York? I suppose so - running around with a lot of girls. Well, you don't have anything on me - I'm going the last weekend of this month to visit my last year's room-mate in Scarsdale. She's trying to get tickets [to] "As Thousands Cheer," and possibly for the opera. Did you see any good shows while you were in New York?
I've just come from Glee Club rehearsal and we had a circus. Mr. Hammond is always a howl but he was better than usual tonight. We were practicing new music for Spring concert and commencement. One of them was "Pop Goes the Weasel" in one part of which we altos have a solo the words of which are "Kiss me quick, I'm off; Goodbye." He said - "make them wait for the kiss; don't you see that there's a long hold before it?" We all laughed until we cried - You really can't appreciate it if you didn't hear it.
I'll have to stop and finish afterwards. I'm in S.A.H and Comfort just came for me to play Ping-Pong with her.
Well, for the first time in the last week I just beat Comfort at 2 games of Ping-Pong. Comfort certainly isn't bothered by Wesleyan anymore. Did Herbie come back after his father did? She hasn't heard from him at all.
Do you have your marks for the semester yet? We don't get ours until the middle of the month. I'm awfully anxious to hear what I got. At least I know that I didn't flunk or condition anything because I didn't get any slips in my P.O. box. Zada, however, wasn't so lucky. I understand she got two or three. I feel awfully sorry for her, because she's very conscientious about doing her work - much more so than I am.
Please tell me all the news you know from Troy when you write next which I hope is soon. I know I don't deserve a letter for a month or so, but you won't make me wait that long, will you?
As ever
Margaret.
