Citation made by President [Paul Swain] Havens in conferring the degree of Doctor of Science upon Miss Abby Howe Turner
Miss Abby Howe Turner, teacher, investigator, gentlewoman: for nearly half a century you have taught generations of college students, sharing in the transmission of knowledge. You have all this while exhibited a lively scholarly interest in your chosen field of physiology, sharing in the discovery and interpretation of knowledge. And in your own life you have shown forth the qualities of a cultivated and humane gentlewoman for whose influence as a person students and colleagues alike are profoundly grateful. Under the authority granted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and by the vote of the Board of Trustees I confer upon you the honorary degree of Doctor of Science and admit you to such rights and privileges as appertain to this degree. In token of this act we bestow upon you the hood of Wilson College and grant you this diploma.
