A Letter written on May 14, 1934

Mon. eve.

Dearest Bette:

In only four days I'll be seeing you again. It all seems too good to be true. Was I surprised when I recieved [sic] your letter last Thurs. eve. I would have answered your letter sooner but I didn't know just what was what so I decided to wait until I could get my bearings. I had to have a talk with your mother and I had to see if it would be possible for me to get the time off and a hundred and one other different things. now I think I know just what I am going to do and where I am at.

I'll probably come up with your mother and father Fri. afternoon. I don't know just what time it will be but that will take care of itself. I will have your corsage sent to you and I'll try and have it delivered around eight o'clock. I was talking with your mother and she said you preferred gardinia's [sic] so I'll see that you have them. Don't take me wrong in the way I just said the above sentence. Anything that you wanted you can have. What you want will be alright with me. It's you that I want to please and it's you who will wear the corsage. So much for that. I think that I have everything all set as far as I know now. I am going to see about the corsage tomorrow so that you will be sure and get it on time and there will not be any mixups at the last minute.

It just seems ages since I saw you last. I just can't seem to wait until Fri. I am sure that we will find plenty to keep us from getting bored. I never have seen the time when you or I got bored when we were together. There is always something to keep us interested.

I want to talk to you very much; so many things have happened since I saw you the last time. I can't write any thing in a letter but I think that I can talk to you much better.

There is so much that I want to say but I just can't think what it is. As it stands now I'll see you Fri and then we will continue from there. Let's pray for good weather this weekend. I am looking forward to your giving me a demonstration of your canoeing ability. If there only was going to be a moon but no such luck this time. There will be plenty of moons this summer so we won't worry about that. I hope I have told you everything that you wanted to know. So until I see you,

Lots of love,
Tom
