A Letter written on Jan 18, 1935

Jan. 18, 1935

Dearest Bette:

When you want me to figure out a time will you please write a few more notes. I think you like to keep me guessing. I haven't figured it out yet. Please tell me what it is. I have hummed tunes, listened closely to all the songs on the radio but I don't think just which song you were thinking of. I'll get even with you yet you old buzz buzz.

I'll bet you don't half realize how much I miss you. It seems funny that I can't just go to the telephone and talk to you but I'll talk with you before long[.] I think things are going to work out all right. I have been staying in nights lately and taking life easy. I don't know what has happened but she says her mother says she can't go with me anymore. She told her that if she didn't stop going with me at the end of two weeks that she would do something about it. So you see that lets me out of it rather easier that [sic] I thought it would be. I haven't even seen her this week or talked with her so I don't think there will be any trouble. It seems funny how things can happen in this life of ours.

Well tonight we go to Winsted to put our play on at the Methodist Church. I'll tell you how well it goes after tonight. Then we have to put it on in Litchfield Feb. 9. I'll be glad when the thing is over.

We are working on Eddie's car now trying to get it back in running shape again. I think between the three of us we can get it so that it will run alright. Sunday we are going to try and get it all apart so that we can see just what we have got to do to get it fixed right.

Last night we had De Molay Installation. Stanley was installed as marshal and I as senior deacon. We had dancing afterwards and I had a fairly decent time.

I haven't started reading yet but I intend to start Monday. I don't [know] just what type of book I'll read but I will tell you what I am reading and all about the book.

I'll let you know what happens on the western front. I think it will be quiet.

Well love I will be waiting to hear from you soon and I hope that I will see you before long. I wish you the best of luck in your exams.

With love,
Tom.
