A Letter written on Aug 23, 1886

Granby Aug. 23, 1869
Mr. Esmond
,Sir.

Your letter is received relating to Mrs. Snyder, I have done All that I could do here for her, She failed to get the proof here of her sons support or his the intention to support her, I do not think that she ever received any Bounty from him or any somes [sic] of money while he was gone to war. She never claimed here that she received any Bounty or somes of money from him, but that some one said that he sent 5 dollars to her or was going to, but I think she never got it. I do not think that he ever helped his Mother any before he went to war for he did not know where she was when he worked for mem as to his giving her 50, dollars when he enlisted I think is not so, but prehaps [sic] he would have helped her if he had lived. I certainly would do any thing in my power for her to get her pension, but I cant say her son ever helped her or ever intended to.

Very truly yours
Jairus J. Lyman
Granby Mass.

P.S. I have removed from Huntington since Mrs. Snyder left here.
