A Letter Written on May 21, 1857

Auburn. N.Y.
May 21st 1857.

Dear Dora

You see by the date of my letter that I am not at home now, but making a visit at Auburn. I had a delightful journey here, through Pennsylvia. [sic] Stopped & made a short visit at Scranton. I arrived here last Friday. I am having a very pleasant visit. Expect to remain most of the summer. I sit up long enough after you Holyoke girls are in bed & asleep. Rise at all times from 6 1/2 to 8. I sew, write, read[,] ride on "loungs" as I feel inclined. In the evening we either go out or have company. And I am really getting to be quite "dissipated"[.] This morning I am rather hurried, as it is getting late and I have another letter to write. You have I suppose sold my carpet & chair, before this time. Will you not send me the money as soon as you can. You may direct in the care of J. N. Starits [?] Esq Auburn N.Y. You may send the whole or part of it, as you like. If you send the whole, I will forward Emma's share to her. You remember that the chair is all mine. And now I must close good bye

Lucia.
