A Letter written on Dec 30, 1929

Dec. 30, 1929.

My dear Abby,

After all these days I am about to thank you and all concerned for sending the packages. I had no idea there were so many Xmas things. I used them on a small tree and they helped to make the house and the day more cheerful. Helen came home and that was a great help. Mr. Larrabee felt very badly all the morning and after dinner I put him to bed. About 5.30 he got up and felt some better. We had some friends in in the evening and he enjoyed them. So we got thro' the day. It is a great comfort to me that my sister is spared knowing the conditions developing in Mr. Larrabee. If she had lived, her trip would have been made very unhappy and if she had come back, think what that would have meant. I am thankful she was spared all that is ahead. He certainly is going downhill - he has no appetite and of course eats very little.

The letters from India show so much love and thoughtfulness. One came today thru Mrs. Dewey from Mrs. Lockwood which gives some new details. It will reach you ere long via Miss Arnold.

Miss Coon sent me an unfinished letter written Monday afternoon. Did you have one? If not, I will send this. She was not either well or happy in Kandy and how thankful I am that she left us in Madura rather than there! These last letters make me feel much more reconciled to her going as she did.

Helen has open house on Beacon Hill, Christmas eve and had a nice time. She does enjoy being there. She comes home every week end and it means a lot to her father.

I hope you are having a restful and interesting vacation.

Please remember me to all the friends -

Lovingly
M. S. Larrabee

I hope the enclosed stamps [no longer with the letter] cover your expenses. Thank you so much, also for your card.
