Nov. 16, 1897.
Dear Susie,-
Your letter has just arrived this morning. Father did not go to church Sunday and Mr. Thayer brought the mail today.
We shall be very glad to have you spend Thanksgiving with us and as much longer as you can. Come whatever day is most convenient for you.
It seems to me it would be as well for you to come the day before Thanksgiving, but you can judge about that better than I.
We will go for the mail Friday so you will have to answer this about as soon as you get it. Amanda is delighted at the prospect of your coming.
She wants to go to South bridge [sic] to get a winter hat and jacket, and I think you will have to escort her while you are here.
Amanda and I are going to the doctor's at noon today. I have not been quite as well since Saturday. Father went to Southbridge Monday and sent two barrels
of aptto Harvey one containing apples, the other potatoes, turnips, beans, and some other things. Harvey sent Amanda's things which were left in New Haven and father got them Monday.I send a dollar towards your Thanksgiving expenses.
In great haste
Mary.
