Blandford Mass.
Jan. 18 - 1893.Dear friends:-
Only two more Wednesday nights to write to you! I have got so that I am counting the hours till I get home: there are now just 408. Mrs. Shepard quotes "Wishing time away, wishing life away."
I am going to spend Sat. and Sun. of this week or next at Mr. Hall's.
Is it good sleighing at Union? It would be here if the wind would let the snow alone. And hasn't it been cold? We have not had a comfortable day this year. Yes, I go over at eight o'clock every morning and build my schoolhouse fire. Does Grace build her fire? Will her school be out before mine? I would like a chance to visit it. If it does close before mine you must visit it and describe it to me.
School hasn't amounted to anything with me today. There is a dancing class at three o'clock, once a week which most of my pupils attend, and they are not good for anything that day nor the next. It is hard work for them to stay in the schoolhouse, anyway, when the sliding is so fine; it seems pretty difficult for them to start when the bell rings.
I had to excuse them at three this afternoon on account of their precious dancing school, but I was not sorry to.
There seems to be a dearth of things to write this week, maybe there will be more next time.
One of my Brimfield letters last week contained the news that Mary Kenney was married. Tell Addie if you see her Sunday; she will be interested.
George hasn't written to me since Thanksgiving[.]
Well, I'll say goodnight -
Your loving Susie.
