Tougaloo, Miss,
Dec. 30, 1905Dear Bob,
Your picture came all right last Tuesday, and I was glad to see your independent little countenance again. Do you remember the day we went to Southbridge and had that taken, and how you ran away from me and played with Mr. Marble's pickles? I do. And have you worn those shoes that the French lady sold you all out?
I wonder if you had a Christmas tree, and if Santa Claus came and pt things on it while you were asleep. Santa found me even if I was away down in Tougaloo to which place you consign people when you want them away, and he brought me a poem, a picture of Uncle Robert and the cat Billy and a piece of his neck ribbon and a handkerchief from Uncle R., "Abroad with the jimmies" by Lillian Bell and some cookies from Edith, a box of candy, some toffee, a box of figs some shirtwaist pins from Grace, a hat-pin calendar, blotter, photo of Miss Kitchel, cushion, burnt-wood hkd. box, five other hkds, a turtle, a wall card, a washcloth bag, a card, a booklet, and a box of remarkable cake from one of my colored sisters.
I wish you would tell your "pretty Harld" to lend me his laughing picture till I go home. I want it to put by yours. I miss you, even if you were bad 7/10 of the time? Do you miss me?
