Dear Mrs McCrea -
I recd your letter Sat. noon and I am at a loss to know just what to say. I would like to have you come for me Sat., the 5th however I will not have done what they have asked me to do but I believe I can have done all that I planed [sic] on doing. that is if I am not hindered in any way.
It is quite unhandy getting material since I have no car here.
Now if you see fit to come for me Sat. returning Sun. I will try to be ready for you but it will take me the full six days hence the reason for returning Sun.
You spoke of having the excavation started[.] Sure you could I think Arch will understand the stakes Chan should any way. however I will give you a diagram that will give a better understanding I planed to have the basement under the lower half of the building there are three stakes at each lower corner with boards nailed on them those strips are the level lines. or grade lines and the bottom of the basement should be seven feet below those strips and 18x26 put then the rest of dirt in the upper part of the house should come down to the level of those strips nailed on the stakes and at least four feet beyond the foundation line on the upper end.
This is not to scale but will give you an idea of how it is to be done. but if you come for me this 5th I will be there before much of it is done.
