Dear Misses Gowing:I have not written befor [sic] because I have not known myself, whether it would be possible for me to attend the picnic[.] The outcome is this, that I will have to stay in the hay field all day the nineteenth. It will not be quite as pleasant as it would be sitting in the quiet shade of Canobe Lake Park, but such is the way of the world. I think we can manage to have a day off some time this summer.
Your sincere friend,
Lester Russell
