Dear friend Carrie:-I trust the elections came out satisfactory to you although at present we cannot tell who will be our next govenor [sic], but without doubt the legislature will elect Floyd, but I am a democrat and would rather see the other candidate elcted. Aside from party principles I think he would be a better govenor than Floyd.
Chester T. Woodbury is home with the chicken pox, he came home Tuesday to vote, and went back to Hanover Tuesday night, and they sent him home again Friday morning. By the way Derry voted against liscence [sic], which is a very good thing for the town.
I am in a law office in Boston, and it is a very satisfactory position. Josiah Quincy is one of the lawyers in the office, probably Mr. Gowing will remember that he was mayer [sic] of Boston for three years.
I should like to here [sic] those duets, I know they must be very fine, how do you and Mary manage practicing? I believe Mary used to practice nearly all day and, so I do not see where your chance would come in, however you probably find time to practice a great deal.
Yesterday and to-day clerely [sic] tell us winter is with us once more, but time flies so rapidly that spring will come before we realize it.
My mother's health has improved since I wrote you last, but she is still very week [sic] and it is doubtful if she fully recovers during the entire winter.
Your friend,
Lester W. Russell.
