Dear Carrie,-I have meant for a good while to write to you but have never got around to it. Considering that I haven't anything to do but prepare for a quiz in literature and make an outline of all the history we have had this semester, I have plenty (?) of time to write letters.
Exams begin a week from to-day. I finish my last one Thursday A. M. so I have a long time with nothing especial to do. Miss Nielson is going abroad this summer - goin gto write a book or something (Lord pity whomever has to read it!!) so she wants to get away early and consequently we get out of history exam and also from our last recitation. We have had to write two long history papers, though besides our regular work so I guess we have had enough to do. The first one I got E on. That was last semester so you may imagine I didn't get credit in history. The last one I got back to-day I had C+ on it so I may get credit in it this semester. Hope so, at least. Last semester I got credit in everything but history, this semester it will probably be the only thing I will get credit in.
A lot of the faculty are not coming back next year. Miss Wallace, Miss Foster, Miss Demarest and Miss Fenton are going to study. Miss Hazen, Miss Rowland and Miss Pollard are going for good. Miss Turner is going to have her mother here and live at Lovell's. Miss Purrington [sic] is going to live at home and Miss Latin Galt is coming to live in Wilder. Mrs. Whalen won't be here and the cook is to be married so Wilder will be quite a new place. I heard that Miss Smith is going to live at Mrs. Purrington's also but can't vouch for that fact.
Next year, I will be in Wilder again. Am going to room with Leila Beeman[.] Am going to have number 50. It is one of those big west rooms with a bay window, next to the room Mildred Peabody had. A dandy room!!!
Did you know Josephine Clark one of the girls who graduated last year? She is back visiting College with her husband and baby. It seems she was married Easter time before she graduated & ten she announced her engagement up on the mountain. Imagine it!!
Mattie Parkhill is going to be in Wilder next year. Will have the room next to the one I have this year.
Did you know that Edith Damon got Phi Beta Kappa? In your class Claudia Potter, Agnes Hahn and Marion Lewis got Phi Beta Kappa. I have Edith Damon's cap and gown picture also Louise Seymour's, Katherine Rogers', Lula Roberts', and Mary Davis'.
I think I must close for now. Hope to hear from you soon -
With love
Bertha
