West Derry, N. H.
May 11, 1906.Dear friend Carrie:-
I received your very nice banner last night when I came home, and was very glad to get it, and thank you very much for it. You certainly exercised a great deal of care and patience, in order to get those letters cut out and stitched on so very evenly. Are you planning to be in Derry during the Academy commencement exercises. I know they will have a very fine address on graduation afternoon, for the former Attorney General of Mass. delivers it, he is the one who conducted the state's case against Tucker. He delivered two lectures in the Law School last May and they were grand.
I find it very hard to study these days, but however difficult it is, I realy [sic] do not feel like shirking for I am in the midst of my final examinations having only two more to take, and then next Wednesday night I can say glory be to the end. How time flies it does not seem three yeas [sic] ago since we were in Pinkerton, to me those were the hapiest [sic] days of my life thus far, for then I did not realize what life ment [sic], and I realy [sic] guess I did not care.
The committee are [sic] planning a very pleasant day for the class reunion, and I hope the class will all be present.
Harry has decided to stay in Madison another year and possibly two as he is determined to get a Phd. degree.
By the way I passed through the ordeal of having another lot of class pictures taken the other day, and the proffs [sic] which I received to day [sic] are very good.
You spoke of what a beautiful place Mt Holyoke is, it certainly must be for there are two mountains in the town are there not? and I know the walks must be fine.
Your friend,
Lester Russell.
