Hudson, N.H.
May 13, 1906.My dear Carrie: -
I am glad to write favorable news. About half past ten this morning, a few minutes ago, Miss Pierce our nurse came down and said the crisis had passed and Mollie is doing well. The temperature stands now 99 1/2 pulse 84, respiration 22. When she started in last Tuesday, or I might say when I knew, her temperature was some over 104. I told papa we must have Dr. Smith and he started for Uncle Charle's telephone. In about two hours from the time he started the doctor was here. Then her pulse was 120. It (the temperature) has varied at different times in the day, but that and her pulse have been a little lower. Yesterday afternoon they began to fall gradually, and this morning Miss Pierce said she thought it was the crisis. We had a stimulant ready if she should have a sinking spell, but she has not needed it.
The perspiration stood in drops on her arm, and her clothes were wet with it when the nurse brought them down.
I hope this epidemic does not reach you. Mamma, Helen and George are deaf in one ear at least, Helen and Georgie have had the earache, and both complain of a sore face. All three cough.
Mamma sent you a letter yesterday saying that Mollie had pneumonia which I suppose you will get tomorrow morning. I hope you will get this tomorrow afternoon. Perhaps I may not write much more as I want to send this by Dr. Smith.
With much love
Auntie.
