Dear Carrie, -I will fulfill my promise and write to you. Leila Beeman is in the room and we are busily talking, so my writing may be crazy.
Thus far I like Soph. work immensely[.] Have had a perfectly grand time. We have a perfectly grand crowd of people - especially sophomores - here. I have Miss Ball in English, Miss Neilson in History, Miss [...] Lit. Miss Morse in Bible, [Miss] Hofer in German. Miss [...] chemistry lecturer and I have Miss Roger[s] in chem. quiz. I like all these faculty very much. Have quite a crush on Miss Neilson.
I sit at Miss Smith's table here in Wilder. Soph. year is certainly grand and Wilder is infinitely superior to Mead.
My freshman room-mate is quite a person. Her father was here about a week ago and in the generosity of her spirit she wished to bestow on Miss Wooley [sic] the honor of an introduction with her dear pater familias. It wasn't Miss Wooley's office hours, but she took her father over to Miss Wooley just the same and introduced him to her. Imagine it!
She baptized my couch cover & spoiled one of my sofa pillows with a bottle of ink the other day. I don't particularly like the dear freshman but I expect that she is going to leave me this week so I am very happy[.]
Miss Pease, my High School German teacher from Greenfield came with fifteen girls yesterday. They were much delighted with the college. We all ate our lunch to-gether up on Prospect and we had a glorious time.
We expect that mountain day is coming Tuesday I expect to go home that day & get some things I didn't bring with [me.]
I guess my letter [sounds] crazy but Leila and I have [been] carrying on a steady conversation all of the time.
I hope that you will answer my letter soon.
Must close now
With much love
