Thursday Afternoon

Dear Nell;-

Such a delightfully lazy day! We were in bed twelve hours last night, and to-day have done nothing but walk down-town & back and lounge around. To be sure Nan has served some and I have written three letters and a short note to Edith about leaving our Boston visit to the last. We have been talking about my visit to you & Mrs. L- (a dear motherly woman who treats me as if I belonged here and that just suits me) Nan and I all think it would be better for me to leave it for the very last. If Edith assents to our proposition and we spend Tuesday in B- [Boston] & Wednesday in L- [Lexington] Nan said I could spend Monday with you & then we go on with her to B- Tuesday a.m. Or if you cared to have me for so long (seeing you'll have to stand me from then on till the last of June) I'd go to Middleborough Saturday. Could Mame & the Doctor endure me that long? If they or you don't like this scheme just let me know, but I know that was what was first suggested and as long as it was what these folks thought advisable I decided to write without hearing from you.

We had Mame Wright's company to Providence. Nan's uncle entertained us delightfully there, we had dinner at Sutton's (the Providence Barr's) turkey & strawberries &c. We had various street carrides, went through some of the stores, got boxes of candy an an opening, went thro' the fine City Hall (this writing is worse than usual, but I don't care, seeing it's you!) and really had quite a day of it, but didn't see the Brown buildings!

I am very fatiguée altho' we were in bed 12 hours last night, so I'll say farewell. A very joyous Easter! Let me hear from you soon
