Dearest darlingest darling:-
Well here I am back again in the old Book Shoppe, after a delightful weekend. Really I had the "bestest" time, for I enjoy college so much, and being with you dear.
"Tillie, the Traveler" (rightfully named) surely goes in for adventure. I made my connection in Holyoke and reached Springfield via Street Car at 8.30 D.S.T. Information told me the next train out of Albany was 7.10 A.M. Can you imagine? There was a train out of Springfield at 3 E.S.T. for Albany but I did'nt want to stay there all night, so I left for New York at 3 P.M. and reached G. Central Station at 6.30. Well I was tempted to stay until the train that leaves around 1 A.M. and go to a show, but I just did'nt feel like doing anything when you were'nt with me to enjoy everything. I walked thru 42nd St. to Broadway like "Samanthe", with my little brown bag and did a lot of window shopping. Then I strolled up Broadway to 45th to look at the signs etc. and then back down Broadway to 23rd St. and to the 23rd St. Ferry. You know that was near the "Pier" where Majestic was anchored. I wanted to get my moneys worth in "New York, air. I crossed the Ferry, and saw "The Geo. Washington["] sailing in the Harbor. It was some sight, was all hepped [sic] up, and wondering what you would think if you knew where I was at that time. Left 8.55 for Bing and reached home 1.55 A.M.
I had nicely started for Binghamton on train when the conductor was asking some man for his ticket. There were two trains, one consisting of day coaches and the other of Sleepers. He was a German just arrived, with nice Santa Claus cheeks, iron grey hair, and about 64 yrs. of age. He had a letter instructing some one to direct him to Sleeper, and here he was on the wrong train. The conductor could'nt make himself understood. He kept asking him for his pullman ticket. So I came to the rescue, and he stayed in the day coach, until the trains consolidated at Bing. We had the grandest visit. He was from Saxony, and here to visit his son who lives in Milwalkee (that is'nt right is it?) It poured when I reached home. Was'nt that some experience? It did'nt take me long to get to bed.
Peg Stewart married Sat. night. A Man 55 yrs. old. She had had her engagement announced to a young Burby [?] chap.
