Cecile's
Wed. Jan. 22/36Dearest darling:-
Came up to Cecile's, last night and expect to go back to Marge's to-day. When I (go) do all the traveling I want to don't care for it. Strange, is'nt it?
Went to Dr. Andrews this morning and had 3 large back teeth extracted. The one with my bridge and two back. Those were the hardest to take out, he said, and in a few days will take six remaining uppers (in front)[.] Then I shall go again and he will take out two lowers. There were pus sacks on every tooth (and they were'nt loose). Did'nt want to do it all at one time.
He is so careful and my face does'nt even ache so far. He only charges $1.00 a piece for extraction when he has so many.
Have decided to have a temporary set and not hang around here for three months. May change my mind, but I am very anxious to have my home again. Believe it or not!
Cecile is very kind, but I know how she likes to be alone, and then too, she was in bed two days last wk. I really invited my self, so I shall leave. Marge phoned and wants me to come up.
You can send mail to Marge's and will let you know when I leave. Will stay here until extractions are over.
I went to Zonta last night, and after announcements were made, May Ryan acting Pres. (Nellie Griggs slips on ice and broke collar-bone) said every one was to sing the song under their plate. I did'nt have any. Can you imagine, it was my swan song. Tears -, you can guess the rest. Am enclosing slip, and then Marguerite MacDonough brought me a beautiful box, all tied with yellow ribbon etc. Am bringing it when I come, and what do you suppose I rec'd? A gorgeous black hand bag with my T.K.C. on it. It is lined with grey suede. Grand?
When I came home they gave me a 1/2 doz daffodils! with pussy willows and other white spring flowers. Am leaving them for Cecile. If you were here, you know where they would be.
Now about your dresses etc. for dance. Had them bring trunk at storage down & weigh it. It will cost $2.72 ex charges. to send trunk and then you will have every thing. How about it? Trunk will be delivered. Or I can get dress, coat & shoes out and send in package. All your good things are in trunk. Memorabilia. Oscar Wilde. Sterling Silver. Comp. papers. Bible etc. Lentheric too - jewelry etc. Let me know.
Your Interest at Cit. Nat. is .50 (cents) Where you have bal. of $25.51 and at B.S. Bank the Int. is $4.25 - bal. $182.46 - I think we will take those out later. What do you think? We can wait until we get to-gether. Find out about Banks etc. Well we can do all that later. Will probably get a Safety Dep. box there, - wonder how much the rentals are.
Saw Ah! Wilderness yesterday and it was very fine, but I am still thinking about "Crime & Punishment."
My cough is getting better all the time and the ribs are not aching. Is'nt that fine? well its [sic] 6 1/2 wks. My that was a tedious time.
I do hope all the unpleasant things will be over with for a long time to come, for both of us, don't you?
Can you think of any-thing I should do around here? If you do, please let me know. Helen may be down this wk. end and she will give you a ring, so be prepared. She was going to drive down to-day but as usual does'nt know when or how. You better leave word with Mrs. Connors if you go out, where you will be in case Helen calls you. She says she is going this wk. end.
This letter is sort of jumpy, is'nt it? Your's [sic] was so interesting. Paid out $52.00 Ins. yesterday, that was with wkly, monthly and yours. My final, gas, lights rent & phone bills are pd. I may stop and see "The Return of Peter Grimke". Will probably be disappointed.
Everyone at Zonta asked about you, and were so glad you had such a good position. Nina and Dot were there. Dot is'nt going back to college until next fall. She has gained 16 lbs. and feels wonderful.
The Bing. Optical Co. is moving in the front offices and Mary Phelan is at the head of the stairs where I used to wish I were. Bing. Press is taking some room on second floor.
I heard Mrs. Reynolds was in town, but have made no effort to see her. She certainly has fallen flat in my estimation along with a lot of other people. Ha! Ha! Three guesses.
Well, dearie, I must drink some milk and get going. Hope my face feels as good as this to-night.
Oodles of love and millions of kisses from your everloving
Muddikin's.Everyone sends their best.
