Sept. 17. 1930My dear darling Jeannette:-
Am writing you a few lines to let you know that the draft for $450.00 goes out with this mail. Mama sent the bond and I have deposited $130.00 on your checking account. The statement will be ready to-morrow so I will tell you exactly what your balance is in the bank. Am glad that is done.
Went home last night after Cecile and I saw the Style Show, and read some old papers. (Am still resting.) Was in bed about 10 P.M. Your father came home early both nights.
The Show was very good, but the dresses did'nt fit like yours. (and they had their own models.) I always was very particular. [sketch of kitty with long tail and "HE-HE" and "some tail!" next to it] Cecile and I were so tired, and it was so hot that we parted at the corner, each going our own way.
Betty has been in here all morning raising the dickens trying to stick that little brush up my nostrils and in my ears.
39 books went out and 39 came in yesterday. Tues. Strange, both days, same number out and in. Hope it keeps up. Naomi just came in for "Dusty Aus." [?] again. Are'nt you missing all the customers?
Nina wants me to go to a church supper with her to-morrow (the other) night. Is'nt that nice? Nina has never said a word about last Sat., and I did'nt mention a word about it.
You will soon be back working away. Do drink lots of milk and eat oodles of food. I don't care if you get so fat that you will burst out all my stitches. Is'nt that wishing some?
I have been writing this letter for three hours. You know what its [sic] like here in the book shoppe. 19 books in and 19 out so far. Is'nt that strange?
I must drop a line to Mama Klem so she will be at ease, and then mail check to Baker and Taylors.
Will write you again and tell you all about business etc. My letters are not exciting, but you can see what I am doing.
Bushels of love and oodles of kisses.
from your darling
