Jany 27 - 1936My Dear Jeannette,
I rec'd your letter sometime ago, and am glad that you like your work so much. It seems strange to think that you are working out of town. But I bet you like it much better than here in Bing. One thing makes it so nice is that you happen to know so many there and some are your old school mates. I am well, and hope you are. Some storm all over the country. Hope the storm did not keep you away from work. Talk about a cold spot to live. If I stay in this old house another winter, I shall fix up an old furnace that is in the cellar. Think it can be done very reasonable. It costs me more for heat with oil and we cant [sic] keep warm, floors are so cold. Its [sic] cool in the summer and more so in winter. Robert has a cold in an off. I have one in my head and then goes away.
I imagine that this storm was bad where you are. Down at a Restaurant on Lewis st, where I get my dinner I heard Anthony on the radio, and Fritz was also. playin[g] in the studio I think.
I see Anthony go by every little while. It will soon be chicken time again about Feby 20th. I'll get a few from Elmira N.Y. this year, as the service on the trains are much better travel [...] early in the season.
Have to go and get a load of kindling wood with the Trues. [?] Friday as the License runs out that day, I will have to buy a new one later on[.] Its [sic] very great around here not much doing up in this end of the City. But will be busy next spring I think.
The Soldiers Bonus - next June 15 will help a lot, and then the Townsend Place will come later on what you think. I hope you are not troubled any more with your Ears, and head. Maybe the salt air will help you later on.
Suppose you see many good shows, now and then. Its [sic] some warmer out here now, but expect it will snow more. Its [sic] some job to keep this corner lot shoveled off, but [...] much else to do, you know letter writing dont [sic] go so good when one gets older. We eat our dinner out and have Breakfast, and Supper at home, had to to [sic] cut down Expense.
I hope you eat good and have good things to eat, you know a full stomach makes one feel good. But dont [sic] suppose you can eat to[o] much, as you dont [sic] do hard work. I mean labor[.]
Think I close, and get this in the mail and will answer sooner next time again I hope you are well, and expect to hear from you when you have the time to write. Good Bye.
Love Papa
PS Is your mother with you. If so give her best reg.
