A Letter written on Feb 23, 1936

"Marjorie's"
Sun. 1 P.M.
Feb. 23/36

Dearest darling sweetheart:-

Just a few lines to let you know I am thinking of you this glorious Sunny Sunday and to tell you that I am loving you more than ever.

No mail came Sat., as it was Wash. birthday so will get your letter when I return to Owego, which will be Mon. or Tues.

Came up with Edna Sat. P.M. and Jane did some shopping, leaving at five. I went up to Mary's book shoppe and we had a bit to-gether and then I played up to that Restaurant. Made $4.00 Phew! Was'nt that nice? Jane hated to leave me, she said I looked lovely. I suppose that's the way she felt knowing there was no more 78 Front St. to go while in Bing.

I enjoyed playing and who should be there but the BeGasse's. She came up to the piano and I did'nt know her. Tho't it was some one from bookshop days. She wanted to be remembered to you and said lots of nice things about you. The violinist took me up to Marge's and after lunch retired. Slept with my Billy-boy and was he glad to see me! He awakened early and told me all about school etc.

Friday night I went down to Edna's daughter-in-law's. (Gil's wife) and we played bridge. Jane & Ez. went to see "Barberry Coast". I really felt as tho I should play cards as they have been nice about taking us to Bing.

Fri. P.M. Sue Richardson took us to Aunt Lu's funeral in Richford, and Harry came along. His wife stayed home. She is the type who when she is upset, stays away, regardless. It was a new Experience. The ashes in a box about 8 inches square (Bronze) had her name engraved on outside with date of birth & death, resting on a small stand, surrounded by flowers. Harry got up and explained to those (their friends), why she was cremated. That it was her wish etc. Talk about poise. I felt so sorry for him. No cremations for me!

Enough of this talk!

Have a date with Dr. Andrews for a wk. from Mon. when he will be back. So will go to Owego until then. Am going to bank and pay bills to-morrow. Would Would rather be with Jane, as she wants me with her. Its [sic] going to be hard for her, and also for me, altho I am very anxious to come.

An & Marge are invited out for dinner, and I promised Cecile to dine with her to-night. Am going to see Leslie Howard in "Petrified Forest" this P.M., and then meet Cecile. She, by the way, has moved to the Bennett this last week.

Anthony was very much pleased with his Valentine. It was cute, I saw it. Marge sends her love and says she thinks of you a lot, but just does'nt write. She saw "Rose Marie" and said it was wonderful. Ez. also liked it. You must'nt miss it.

How are your clothes holding out? You will need some new things very soon.

Tell me all your little secrets and don't be the thoughtful of me, will you?

Mr White has just returned from the State Hos. again, so I heard yesterday. I guess there is no help for that type of person.

Well, darling, I must close and get ready to go back with Anthony. Get a ride down and will be there for 2 o'clock show.

Oodles of love, and billions of kisses from your old darling
