A Letter written on Mar 2, 1936

Dearest darling Mommikins -

I received one letter last night on arriving home from N.J. and one today after work. You are much more worried than I am! I love you beaucoup, beaucoup. If you were here this minute you'd have to protest yourself from a great big hug.

A bill came from Treyz over the weekend which I am enclosing [no longer with the letter], and another letter from them today, which I forwarded. Are they afraid you've skipped town? Wish I could take care of it, but am afraid you'll have to, as you know what it's all about.

It's all right about the insurance. Of course I trust you! You didn't need to send that itemized account. And you shouldn't think that I'm all that matters. Does oo really think so? Biz oo happy as can be expected? I'm sorry about the Estate business. I'm glad you didn't resort to Nina or Helen.

Do you insist on having a job? I wish you didn't have to think about that. If it would make you happier I'd be glad to do what I can.

Don't you ever call yourself a failure. You've been a success! Just look at me! I wish you wouldn't sound so discouraged when you're so far away!

I finished my gardening book this noon and went back to Miss Tankard. She is having an operation for varicose veins Wednesday. So I'll maybe be there until all this week. Am doing a Sax Rohmer mystery. [My best guess: President Fu Manchu]

Mr. Jones isn't from with the General Cable Corp. any more. Grace told us, but Martha hasn't mentioned it, so it's a secret. We don't know what happened.

Grace came over to Irene's yesterday after dinner. Irene had lots of work to do, so I left them and went over to Grace's. The Gleasons were very nice to me. All asked for you. Grace asked me to supper. We had a good visit. She has such a comfortable studio couch. Then we had a long supper and lots of talk. She drove me to the Bridge. Reached home about eleven.

Grace thinks she's seen Waldemar. Has met lots of internes at the Paterson General Hospital. Do you suppose she's the one he said he met? She's already planning on having us all up for the 1937 reunion, and for week ends. Will have a 14-room house.

I saved out plenty of money this week. Am not skimping at all. Billy's note was so cute. He must be changing.

You don't owe me anything. I am still in the Red and you in the Black. Am not at all worried and hope you are not. Heaps of love & millions of kisses -

Jeanie

We are stand-up-by's yet, and always will be, won't we?
