Dear Mary,

Here I am just answering your nice invitation after a weeks [sic] delay - but truly I have been most upset. I had just moved into 2 empty rooms when your note came - and it has kept me very much occupied - with school work and all to get them fixed at all. I do want you to come down and see me for I shall actually have a place where I can entertain you - that is I hope I shall - when I finally get fixed up -

I surely would like to come up and see you all - but I just can't think of it this week end - and that for many reasons. First I am broke absolutely - almost counting the pennies until pay day - Nov. 1, then I shall feel like a millionaire. 2nd. it is the last Sunday - that Harry will be here (probably) as he is expecting to be called next week - if he passes his exam tomorrow. 3d - My brother Ives is expecting to be ordered to Egypt this week end and to sail for N.Y. and I am expecting him to come this way - and on top of all that I am dreadfully back in my school work for I have batted every day - and night since I came east until after midnight often and steadily from Friday noon until Monday. I am ashamed to say it but I have scarcely opened a book in all this time and have taught on bluff - often so near asleep that I wonder now what really happened - but after this week if there is anything left I shall settle down. Tonight I am having to myself for Harry is sick in bed with Tonsilitus [sic] and refused to let me come to see him - so there you are - I am going to study - maybe.

You should see my nice quarters when you will say you will come to see me I will put in another cot and we can have a fine time. I have a 2 burner gas stove and I will show you what a fine cook I am. In a way it is rather lonely living this way, but as yet I have not had time to try it out. It surely is better than a Boarding house - but I do miss Barbara. Now do plan to come down some week end to see me - and do write me up again and I will surely come. Remember me to all your good family -

Much love.
Grace.
