To a Home in the Heart of ThingsMy own sweet sophomore;-
I am writing this letter in the Brooklyn Post Office, using stationery that I found in my suitcase. I am getting tired of Conference - You know, they are trying a short session; so everything is done under pressure, debate is hurried, etc. Fortunately the "pinks" are pretty well tamed and the pacifists are not saying much. In fact they are all advocating preparedness. It certainly is a joke. Some of those who have been most insulting in the past are astonishingly friendly. I suppose they figure that perhaps a hearty handshake may prevent my "rubbing it in."
I came down on Thurs. so Mama and the kittens are holding the fort at Naug. At the present moment I am debating whether to take a quick sneak home and then back to Bklyn tomorrow night - or not. It would cost me $3.50 I am decidedly lonesome. It is a problem.
St. John's Church where the Conf. is meeting was a great church about 30 yrs. ago. But the neighborhood is nearly 100% benai Yisrael now.

We had to forget our surroundings while we discussed the awfulness of racial prejudice. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" applies particularly to Jews.
Hitler's blitzkrieg has certainly gotten everybody jittery. Two of the brethren have already said to me that we ought to be "in it" now - and others are saying "How long?" "Quem ad finem abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra?"
Well, I have rambled over quite a lot of Prince George stationery. But I am blamed homesick - doubly lonesome - for both my Wife and my Child.
Here's wishing you clear brains, retentive memory - and lots of luck.
Your proudly doting,
Pop.Sat.
