Dear Bessie,

I am in a letter writing mood today so I thought it was a good time to answer your letter.

This afternoon I did my own two weeks washing in half an hour. Our laundry has a new Maytag washer that is really fun to use. Dad sent me a little iron, the cutest thing I've ever seen. I save at least a little by doing my washing. Since I am not working, I have time for such things and time to get my studying done properly. Studying seems to come more easily probably because of last year's experience.

Last week, a friend from home came to see me. We went to Willimantic to see Deanna Durbin in "That Certain Age". We thought it was very good. Have you seen it?

Oh, I must tell you about the concerts I am going to hear this winter at Bucknell Memorial in Hartford. The first one is next Tuesday; the others will be on Nov. 22, Jan 10 and Feb 14. We will hear the Hartford Symphony with Albert Spaulding (this Tuesday), Lotte Lehman and Myra Hess as soloists. My music appreciation course, which I have this semester, will work in with these concerts very well.

How is your studying and your table-waiting coming along?

What kind of place is Pearsons? I can't figure out why it doesn't have "Hall" or "House" or "Dorm" after it.

It is time I went up to the Dining Hall and got in line for supper. We are served cafeteria style and the food is great. We affectionately call the place the "beanery". Our dean is afraid people wont get a very good impression of it if we call it that. But we do like our "Beanery" very much.

Take care of yourself and be good.
Love, Dorothy
