A Letter Written on Dec 5, 1938

Dear little girl:

Your welcome letter came and Papa is enclosing a check. Your letters are very satisfying - exactly as if you had dropped in to see us. Letter-writing of that kind is a great art. Will attend to the cards - and photographs - I think a nice bottle of perfumery would be a present for Mrs. Mackay, and unless I hear to the contrary, I will get one and send it to you. You can get some tissue - ribbon etc. at the drug store - I imagine - to wrap it up. Would you care for any of the flower cards from Palestine? I have some - with their envelopes. I imagine you would rather have the regular Xmas cards. Some of them are very pretty but if you do want some of the flower cards - just let me know. I am up to my ears in doing for the Fair. Another important question. Will you be willing to take the part of Mary in the Tableaux on Xmas Night? I am enclosing a card for you to send back to me [no longer with the letter] - as soon as you possibly can. I have left a space to insert a "not" if there is a negative to any of the questions. I do hope you will be willing to take the part of Mary.

With love - and a big kiss -

Good night from
Mamma.
