December 11, 1938Dear Bessie,
I have been going to write but so much has been going on in preparation for the Fair. The League had the candy booth. We also sold popcorn. We sold it as fast as we could make it. We made $21.63, more than ever before.
We made popcorn balls but they did not turn out well so they were sold 2 for 5¢. One batch hardened before we formed the balls and we had decided to sell it for caramel-corn but we later put more syrup to it and made 30 balls that evening out of enough mixture for seventy-two.
The play was very good. Mr. Wyatt took the part of a violinist from a small town in Maine. He was always opening peanuts with his teeth.
Have you been having many Christmas entertainments?
It is fine you can come home so soon. I hope you have better weather this time.
I hope you, Dorothy, and I can get together. Do you go in for any of the winter sports? Dorothy informed me she would like to learn to skate.
Have you seen "The Great Waltz" It was hard to sit still with such music. I also enjoyed "Citadel." It was quite sad.
I really must get to bed.
Love
MildredMy folks want to be rememberd to you.
