A Letter Written on Jan 30, 1939

326 Grand Avenue
New Haven, Connecticut
January 30, 1938. [A new year's typo; should be 1939.]

Dear Bessie,

I have been waiting since Christmas for you to keep your promise to write. Thank you very much for your card. We didn't send any cards this year.

I didn't know you had moved away from New Haven.

Well, do you like Mount Holyoke? What subjects do you have?

Our examinations start Monday. I have Philosophy (antology) [sic], German, English, English history, and economics. I like Albertus, well enough, though it's such a small place, it's rather disgusting sometimes. However, the new dean has a few plans about reforming the school, and raising the scholastic level by some wholesale eliminiation of all undesirables.

I just learned that the president of Mt. Holyoke - Mr. Ham, used to teach English here at Albertus.

Please tell me all about school and what you've been doing since you left Hillhouse.

Sincerely yours,
Betty.
