Dear little Girl:

Received your welcome letter - so full of news - this A.M. Before I forget, Mrs. Pearson phoned this A.M. and says that she is going for Katerhine on Friday morning and will get there sometime around eleven - and will be glad to take you too. I didn't think that you would be able to leave as early as that but I know that if you do not finish your work - until the time given in the catalogue 11.50 - Kathryn will not finish either so she will probably write her mother to that effect. Will phone to Worth's to-morrow - for an appointment with John at 1 P.M. That will give you a little time for rest and refreshment on Sat. morning.

Have just come home from the Woman's Club. Papa was invited too. The plays were excellent. Will tell you more in detail - when you are home.

There was quite an excitement in Church yesterday, as you will see by the enclosed clipping. [no longer with the letter] Mildred Weyle was coming home from a party - at a place like Mary Ann's with Mr. Kazarijean and they were held up. I am glad the men didn't hurt her, and the police kept her name out of the paper. She was to have a solo - in Church - so I had to take her place. She is a nervous wreck. They had to walk home. He was beaten - and his face cut and clothes torn. She identified one of the men - as a man that delivers milk to a store near where she lives. Mr. Weyle told me the men were both drunk - and she asked Mr. K's car with rocks. They had taken the detour that you and Papa and I went along - on the way to Holyoke. Please save the clipping[.]

Papa is listening to Torrell Thomas. Everybody thinks war is near.

Been very busy all the morning - towels - socks etc etc. etc. Want to have but little to do - during your vacation. Dorothy gets her vacation a week later than you do. It seems as if - all the different collegiates are getting different times for Easter vacation. Torrell Thomas - is speaking of William Orville Douglass - who takes Brandeis's place. Only 41 years old - and had to hitch hike - during most of his college life - Only had 6 cents - How he got along is more than I could see. Rode to college every day on a bicycle - when he wasn't beating his way from college to college. I think he has lived 70 years in his 41 actual years. I never heard of such an experience but he is out of it now - I imagine forever.

Am so glad you are going to give the demonstration - am anxious to hear about it in detail. Couldn't remember whether you had decided to wear 10- or not. Now I know. I think it gives a little more stretch to the whole stocking without making it loose.

Enjoyed the program - would like to have heard it. That was the school (modern french) and the songs that I studied for so many years. Wish I had studied teaching instead.

Will close now. Lots and lots of love - from us all.

Mumie
