Dear Mama & Papa,

Greetings and salutations! How are you two? I still can't seem to believe that I am back at school. It just doesn't seem natural going to so few classes. My cold is practically gone thanks to all my medications and sleep. I started menstruating today and have not been feeling so hot, though it's much better than the last time. I spent most of the afternoon lying down. I got a sub for lunch but there was a cut so I don't have to pay her. Thanks again for the swell surprise. You can't realize how nice it was. My squarrel [sic] looks simply darling and everyone admires him.

Donald Dixon is going to give his concert here tomorrow night. Stelle came over to see me today. She said "You'll be seeing Mr. Barlow tomorrow night, won't you. You know he seems to like you quite a bit Bessie, sort of a plutonic friendship." Ha! Ha! I'm getting a bad reputation or something. How did the old lady's funeral go on Tues? I received the bill from Filene's yesterday. Everything seems to be going quite smoothly here. We had pink grapefruit for lunch to-day & it was delicious. It didn't have the usual bitter taste. We had for supper tonight pineapple juice, roast veal, pan browned potatoes, brocolli (?) [sic], and mince pie and apricot salad. It was very good.

I certainly miss seeing you two. There are so many little things I would like to tell you. It has been quite warm here for the last couple of days. Do the cats seem to know I am gone? I must stop now and study for my chem quiz for tomorrow. Worse luck!

Lotions of love,
Bessie
