A Letter Written around Dec 27, 1939

Dear Bessie:-

I cannot tell you how pleased I was to receive your card to-day. It was very kind of you to remember me.

I have not been very well lately but get to church in the usual way. I think of you often and wonder how you all are. I hope you like college you probably do. A distant cousin of ours graduated from there a Miss Andrews. She seemed to get along very nicely is now married lives in Hartford.

My pen is not in good order tonight. You will probably remember about my eyes, they seem to get along fairly well but I do not know exactly how they are coming on. I go again the 23 Jan. My last date was in July. He then gave me a prescription that burns but I do not mind that, it inflames the eyes but in time gets clear again. I only get a little with my prescription and then send for another a week at a time then a milder one the following week. My sister is still in her wheel chair not very well either but we make the best of it. This is a poor looking letter but presume you would rather I would send it, then [sic] to destroy it.

With love & best wishes to all.

Yours very sincerely
