Dear Mama & Papa,
Good morning! A very funny thing happened to me to-day. Yesterday morning I didn't get up for breakfast & I had my alarm set for 7:45. I was quite tired last night & didn't bother to check up on my alarm. This morning I woke up feeling quite rested and only half heard Mary Lyon strike. I turned off the alarm & was wondering why I was so rested when I became aware of quite a bit of noise in the hall & outside. I said to myself, people certainly are early birds this morning. Then the answer came to me. It was eight o'clock & not seven & I had for gotten [sic] to set my alarm.
Yesterday evening I was quite a good little girl & studied in the Libe till 9:40. I was reading Iphigenia in Tauris, by Euripides, for Mythology. Then Stelle & some other kids & I went down to S.A.H. [Student Alumnae Hall, now known as Mary Woolley Hall] & watched the Senior Dance till 10:45. It was lots of fun to watch. The girls' dresses were very pretty & so many of the boys had tails. Stelle asked me to stay over Sat. night with her at home. But I said no because I have too much work to do, especially as I am leaving so early next week end.
All the talk of the Sophomores centers on Soph. Hop. now. Sally hasn't heard from the boy in Boston so she is going to Boston for the week end. Stelle expects to go & was quite disappointed when she found out I was not. She offered to have her brother come up for me but of course I didn't accept the suggestion. Next year I have got to go to Junior Prom by hook or crook. I am glad that I didn't ask Howard because I don't think he's quite the person to take thru' a receiving line in a Formal Dance.
It was awfully cold here yesterday & the moon last night had colored rings around it. I hope that doesn't mean more snow. How is the snow progressing in Naugatuck.
I seem to be quite subject to moods this year. Thurs. I was happy without cause & today I am down in the dumps. So life goes. I like Ecclesiastes a lot. Those wise sayings seem to appeal[.]
I haven't gotten the Bd. of Ed. check yet. I am getting worried. Was it delivered at home? Please look around. If not, don't you think we should do something about it?
I have big plans for this week end. I am going to wash my hair & clothes & study. My work seems endless these days. Wish me good luck with my studying. How is Papa's cold? How are you, Mama? I am looking forward to seeing you at 10 on Friday morning.
Love & kisses
Bessie
