Dear Mama & Papa,

Greetings! I wanted to write you till I had calmed down a little. I went in to see Miss Huchinson [sic] Mon. morning & she said the best thing to do would be to pick out a room in Safford for the time being & that I might be able to get a better room, or I could petition out. I picked out a room & am waiting about the petition till I hear from Stelle & Marion who hope to get into Safford. Any way the petition is not decided upon till August so there is plenty of time. Please forgive me for making such a scene the other night but the suddenness of the blow kind of stunned me. I think that every thing will turn out all right. I met Rhea yesterday and she didn't say a word to me about the room choosing & I didn't dare to say anything to her.

This afternoon I played three games of croquet with a girl & won two. This afternoon we buy tickets for pageant this coming Sat afternoon & for the play Sat night. I have just finished my wash & am going to do some Religion. The war situation certainly does look bad. Mr. Bailey said in history class yesterday that he thought that his generation had made a mistake in teaching our generation to hate war too much because we failed to realize now that there are much worse things than war.

Stelle & I are going in to Holyoke tomorrow afternoon to get me a new dress.

Today has been a heavenly day & if the weather keeps on like this, we will have a swell pageant.

Thanks ever so much for helping me the other night. It helped me a lot. I think that most of my friends would like to boil Rhea in oil or something similar. Anyway I have found out who my real friends are.

Lotions of love,
Bessie
