Dear Bessie,

Pesh and I decided that we would write some letters this afternoon after coming in from a swell walk up in our apple orchard. Pesh suggested we write to Mount Holyoke so she's going to write to Betty while I write to you.

This is such a beautiful busy day we just had to take a walk.

I love living in the sorority house! We have nicer furniture than I've lived with before up here and, all in all, it seems cozy and homelike. The girls are grand, too.

There are lots of changes on campus this year. Is that true at Mt. Holyoke? We're using new buildings, have new profs, and lots of freshmen. Our enrollment now tops 1475.

My courses sound very good. I have two psychologies, three sociologies and a 2-credit course in Fundamentals of Speech. How are yours?

Yesterday, one of my friends had to go home to Hartford for the afternoon and asked me to go along. Her mother came after us and brought us back. We took in a good movie, "The Howards of Virginia."

I haven't got much to write about since we've only been here a short time but I thought I'd write to get our correspondence started. Please don't be too long in answering. In other words, write soon if you value your life!

Love,
Dorothy [Calvert]
