A Letter Written on Nov 6, 1940

My own Beautiful Princess;-

We were glad to get your postal of Sunday and to learn that you had been getting yourself enjoyment. We have pretty nearly worn out the radios the last few days - listening to speeches and gathering election returns.

The outcome of the election certainly was a big disappointment. But Willkie's achievement was remarkable, when we consider that in the biggest vote ever polled in any election anywhere he lost by a very small margin. And perhaps it will be of immediate advantage in the international situation.

Today the women of Naugatuck Church were invited to a meeting of the Womens Society for Xian Service of Watertown Church. Only Mrs. Hudson and Mama and I went. The Watertown folks asked Mama to sing - and boy! did she do so? Then Mama and I were invited to Birdsey Skilton's for supper. We had a real good time. Sperry and I did some business in stamps. By the way, he says he wrote and hasn't gotten a letter in reply.

Have you attended to the Bd of Education and the College loan matters? - and how about telling them that you need more scholarship ere it is too late? "Ask and ye shall receive." Tempus fugit.

Love from exceedingly sleepy parents to Hon. Offspring.
