Oct. 5, 1940.Dear little Girl: Received your welcome letter with its problem about R. Will answer that when I can think it out. What is bothering me is about the "week-end" - of Oct. 11. - If you come down - will we be able to get a minute's visit with you - Every minute is so precious. The wedding of Mr. Hubbell will take place sometime
Wednesday- Friday - that means that we couldn't go up for you on Friday - Then they are going to paint the Church on Sat. that means that on Friday Night they are going to have a "Mix Paint" party (not mixed-drink) - and we will have to be there[.] Then the Church Wedding is at ten - on Sat. morning and after that they are going to cook a dinner for the men who are painting the church and they are going to paint until dark - so - we may serve them supper. Mr. Megin is loaning the Scaffolding and all the men that can paint are going to do the work. It will look nice when it is done and it certainly needs it. Sunday is free and we could drive you up O.K. but it would be necessary for you to come down by train - on account of the wedding and the paint. Doesn't that sound funny? Such a combination. The house will be nice and warm for me just got in 50 gallons of oil. What do you think about it? Then there is another plan which might work out. Papa and I could drive up on Tuesday the 15th and spend the afternoon - and all go out to dinner - then the other plan would be for us to drive out for you on the 18th for we have that Sat and Friday free? What do you think? Of course I do not know how your dates - are - but what whatever you think would be best - and what you would like to do is O.K. you know that.
Have to go to the John Wesley Bible Class election of officers to-night, as Mrs. Bosworth's. I am wondering who they will put in. Mr. Mowrey will not take it again. He is about all in - with the illness - etc.
Will close now - Pop is waiting to post this epistle.
Lots and lots of love -
Mamma.
