Rev. Dr. William M. Nesbit
15 Frederick Street
Naugatuck, Connecticut

My own dear little Girl.

Papa is taking this letter to the Post Office - just a few lines - I bought some almonds and will fix them this week, so get your mouth all fixed for them. Papa bought a brush for the cats - to make them look very or more beautiful when you arrive home. We had quite an adventure last night. After I posted the letter in the Post Office - Papa and I rode to Naugatuck. It was very difficult driving - the snow was so thick - you could hardly see through it. Papa drove beautifully. After we crossed the bridge in Naugatuck - we had great difficulty in making the hills - when we got about 1 1/2 blocks from home our car was skidding so we couldn't make the hill. The car in front of us turned completely around twice - and then decided to go down the hill again. He called to Papa - and Papa said he was stuck so he helped by pushing and Papa drove over to the side of the road - Luckily - I had brought my rubbers - so Papa locked the car and we walked home. To-day Papa and Mr. Noyes - went down and put on the chains. - last night you couldn't see to do it. The car is home - safe and sound. I am wondering how it is in South Hadley. It snowed to-day - lightly until noon and then stopped. The paper says - more snow to-night. I wonder.

My foot is better to-day. Weeping just a little. The weather is bad for it - and the leg aches - a sort of dull rheumatic ache I have to expect that - for a while. The Noyes were bothered about my foot - for when Mr. Noyes - was in college - the coach bound or strapped his foot - and it rubbed off the skin - and he put on a new pair of socks - and didn't wash them first and the dye infected his foot and they thought they would have to take the leg off. Mrs. N. paid they took the pus out by spoonfuls, or spoonsful. They got the better of it in time. - and he was all right again.

The two little kitties are sitting by the tree - trying to knock off the ornaments. They look so cute - and are having very little success. Will put away the ornaments - and put the tree on the porch to-morrow. I hate to take it down. Have not been able to get the Photo Mailer yet. They were too big - you will get them soon, I hope. Hard to get instead of "Hard to remember" - (Weren't you cute?) Am going to Church to-morrow - if it does not snow too hard.

Love from us all.
Mummie.

πατηρ γραφει τω τεκνω τω εαυτου. I am trying to dope out a schedule so that I may be able to come out and give you a little boost with History before the Mid-Years. I hope that this snow doesn't last long.

snappy work in Washington

Here are some rather apt descriptions.

Socialism: You have 2 cows and give 1 to your neighbor.

Communism: The gov't takes the cows and gives you the milk.

Fascism: You keep the cows; the gov't takes the milk and sells part of it back to you.

Nazism: The gov't shoots you and takes the cows.

New Dealism: The gov't shoots 1 cow, milks the other and pours the milk down the sewer.
