A Letter Written on Nov 12, 1938

Rev. Dr. William M. Nesbit
230 Portsea Street
New Haven, Conn.

Nov. 12, 1938.

My own dear little girl;--

We received your welcome letter this morning and were we glad to get it!! Papa sent you a package to-day special delivery parcel post and we hope that you will get it to-morrow (Sunday). Papa has just come home from calling[.] He called on Clarence and he will go home shortly but evidently not to do too much. He saw your picture in the paper (I am sending it to you under another cover). Papa and I think it is excellent. I hope you will like it. The pictures are not ready yet. They made a mistake and finished off the large ones. The girl sent them back and it will be a few days before they are ready. Papa said the large ones did not look nearly so well. I am glad that we or rather you decided on the smaller ones. I am so anxious to hear how you like them. Will you send a card to Clarence. He showed your picture to all his friends in the hospital. Rev. Clarence E. Wells, Waterbury Hospital. Do it soon or he may be home.

Papa also called on Dud Atwood. I am enclosing clipping. He told Papa he does not remember anything about being struck. Papa only stayed just a minute. One of his eyes is bandaged as well as his head. As President Coolidge said about the hams, "too many drunken drivers". Not really awfully drunk but muddled. We have not heard just how drunk this man was. It would be nice if you sent him a get well card. People appreciate them. It will be O.K. about Katherine, if she is able to come with you. It does not seem possible that[ ]Thanksgiving is nearly here.

Will you please see that your stockings are all the same length. If they are not, we will get others the right length. If they are not, we will get others the right length. The girl forgot to measure them. Please bring home all the old ones. They are fine for work up in the attic and cleaning etc. My older hose are all used up and that attic is wicked on my good ones. Mrs. Huff were not able to come and fix their part of the attic. Mrs. Huff had a hangnail and it became infected. You know how sore those hangnails get if you don't use Iodine. Well to make a long story short, she had to have it cut open and will not be able to use it for some weeks. She should have had it tended to almost a month ago -- but dreaded it. Papa has just come in and has bought some more stamps on your mail. Save them and you will be able to trade them for something else. The plate numbers are nice. I will have to write for George Rogers address. His mother only said to "medical college" and we are not sure which one in Baltimore it is. There are several. Will send the package from Panakoff in a few days. The things will look well done.

Good-night, God bless you,
Mamma.

P.S. Papa says not to worry about your Physics. You are building your education for years to come not for the present, only. Papa got C. at first in fact it was C-- and then pulled it up to B. just like you are going to do.

To-morrow, Dr. Worley will preach in the evening.
