Rev. Dr. William M. Nesbit

Naugatuck, ConnecticutDear little Girl:-
Received your welcome letter this A.M. and we were very happy. I am certainly glad that the number of exams will be reduced, especially if it is weather like yesterday. It was very hot - in the nineties - but we had a second thunderstorm - and a little one -today, which so affected the temperature that I am wearing my coat - while writing. A strong wind - almost like hurricane wind - has come up - probably from Canada.
Evelyn O'Meara is going to be married on June 7 - at the Church - Mr. Zeeter who introduced the couple to each other will perform the ceremony - with Papa assisting. At the Ladies' Aid on Thursday - Miss Valentine said Mrs. O'meara would like the use of the Church Dishes at the Church on June 7th - so I guess they will have everybody invited to the Church and simple refreshments. She is marrying a man from Williamsport. I am sorry it will not occur after you have returned home, for it would be a pleasure to have you with me. She went with a Catholic fellow - for quite a long time - and then shifted to a Protestant. She is a great friend of the girl who was engaged to Charlie Booth - and then the engagement was broken, and I think this girl, (Charlie's ex-fiancée) is going to be maid-of-honor.
About the church in Bethany - Papa is now the minister - of that too - and he is just this minute phoning to Mr. Peet to tell him - he will be in to see Mr. Peet on Tuesday - and get the Record Book etc. Mr. Peet says he will be at his home in New Haven about 2-30 - or 3. so that will be O.K. On Tuesday, I will get your white dress. Do you want me to send it right out to you? Let me know. Of course if you don't need it - it can be waiting for you when you come home - but you know - the needs.
Was interested to hear of the "pilfering."Strange how it occurs - in Churches. Lodges - and schools. Papa and I are going down to the Big Dollar. Mr. C. hasn't been able to pay us anything - yet - and it makes very close figuring. I will be glad when we get our check.
Mrs. Rogers - has gall-stones. Just had an X ray - and they show up clearly. She has never been sick in her life - and dreads the operation. Papa was there this morning. The Doctor is going to let her wait awhile. She has never eaten butter - hates it - and now has to almost eat it clear. Aunt Lissa - avoided an operation by eating loads of cream.
Will close now - and post this - Love from us all
Mamma.
