My own darling Bettsikins;-

We went to N.H. today; and Mama had 2 wisdom teeth out. The job was pretty severe - painful etc. so I have put her to bed and given her 2 aspirins - like you took after Dr. Jackson pulled yours.

We got your letter this morning, telling about the war-excitement at College. These certainly are stirring times - "times that try men's souls." Pacifism and isolationism have at last vanished into thin air. But the evil that they did, unfortunately, lives after them.

Poor, silly, Jeanette Rankin is their last pathetic remnant. But she has not been so evil as Lindberg, Nye and Wheeler. Lindberg of course is still thoroughly Nazi in his soul. I think however that the bulk of the people have his number.

Our Fair was the biggest success yet - better even than two years ago. The Thank Offering is still coming in.

Your curriculum looks pretty good. What are the two Am. Hist. courses? I suppose that the Am. Lit. is the course that we noticed back in Freshman yr. I certainly am glad that you're going to take another course with Adams. He is helpful and inspiring. And it is a good thing to have something definitely religions. Where would the world be today, without religion?

Is there any higher hope than "the mountain of Yahweh's House"?

Sun. evening I talked to the Pilgrim Fellowship (Young People's Group) of 2d Cong. Ch. in Waterbury. Talked on "Let's Look at the Near East Today." Went over big.

Lotions of lotions-
Papa.
