ELN Friday Jan 31 -
Dear Bessie:-
I did enjoy your letter a great deal and was delighted to hear you had such a dandy vacation at Xmas. No doubt by now you have almost forgotten that you had one.
I can just imagine you getting around out in the snow on the campus these wintry days. I'll bet it is beautiful up there now. We had quite a storm here this week and the ground is still covered. It is never pleasant here, though, as it gets to look like a light chocolate after a few days.
I suppose you went home after your exams, and are now back at College again ready for the last half year's work. My goodness it doesn't seem possible that you are finishing your third year. Just imagine how exciting it is going to be next year this time. I hope I can see you graduate.
Mother has been with me since the 1st week in Dec. but has been ill since
theNew Years day. She seems to get a little better & then she is worse again. It all seems to be her stomach. She gets pains there after she eats & fills up with gas & is most uncomfortable. I've tried to keep her on a diet but she will eat things she shouldn't.We have been awfully busy at the office and I am usually very tired when I get home. I haven't been out in weeks. All I want to do is get home & relax.
I thought perhaps the relief situation would be decreasing but we have had an unusually busy winter so far. All the defense jobs haven't seemed to affect the number of people needing assistance.
My friends are still with me. Mr. Lane wasn't able to get a job until a few days ago he started with John's Manville Co selling insulation for homes. I hope he is successful with it. I guess they are getting quite discouraged.
My niece and & [sic] her little boy are coming for dinner Sunday & we are looking forward to seeing them. Deane has just gotten over the mups - so he will be glad to get away from home for the day.
Well my dear I think I have rambled on quite enough. I do hope you are well & that things are getting along nicely.
Much love to you
Aunt Emma
