Sweetest senior;-

A package arrived this afternoon - but I am going to wait until tomorrow to open it. So I gaze at it with curiosity - while exercising my self restraint - but I surely am curious. Whatever it is, it has already given me pleasure thinking of the sender. I wish I could give a BH and a SK right now. The birthday card came this morning - and I had a lot of fun unfolding it. Mama liked her valentines immensely.

Wed. I went to N.Y. on some matters of pressing business. I also saw Aunt Emma. She sends her love - and says that she is counting on seeing you graduate - Will get special leave of absence, for it. Thurs. Mama and I went to N.H. causa dentium. Yesterday was the Bishop's Meeting in Hartford. Saw Mrs. Winter, Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Scott - All asked about you - as did also Mr. Wills.

Dr. Ralph Diffendorfer of the Board of Foreign Missions told about how the war touches the Methodist Church. All of our work in the Phil. Is. is in Luzon. There are over 100,000 Methodist Church members in Luzon extending through the entire territory that the Japs have occupied. The native churches are almost entirely self-supporting, with native ministers. They probably are under terrific persecution. We have 30,000 members in Malaya, and over 20,000 pupils in our schools there. Both Diff and Bish of Welch spoke of the conflict as between the religious rights of the human soul and the anti-Xian supremacy of the state.

Hope you are taking your med. regularly. Are you feeling any more rested? Did you get the package from Gimbel's yet? We long to see Our Child.

Love multitudinous -
Papa.
